Exceptional Assembling of History

This piece is for Week 9 of Jingle’s Poetry Potluck…the them this week is Fortresses, Buildings and Monuments” hope you all enjoy where I allowed my mind to take this…I love words and the means of words because sometimes that in itself creates some awesome pieces…

She found a place fortified with peace
A simple citadel with strong hold
Exceptionally secure she started to build
Creating a source of refuge is not
Always so easy to do but done right
certainly keeps away the common fool

She needs it to be a barrier of protection
Support and defense, an armor to cover
To keep to tower and make sure no
Weapon could be formed against

Resistance must shelter as this
Would be the fortress the mainstay
The embankment that encompasses
Her heart…

Then he came along like the sun
without the rain, preserved and
Maintained, honored to observe
Enduring evidence she believed was love
Exemplary personified, significant
And true, celebrated they cherished

This as it was, a rarity, a relic
Vestige, heirloom like in artifact
Their love was a monument proved
to be nothing short of truth

Upright without ruin, maintained
One day to bare historical significance
even against the clouds and rain
they were certain to never witness
any days of destitute pain

But like a construct structure that
Seemed relatively permanent
it was still too new not too evident
The walls that were assembled
no one ever thought no one even knew

Produced together, with a base
Began, I mean to initiate, they
Found the compound, the forge
The frame the base the edifice
Joining materials came….

Her fortress remained protecting
Her heart, from the monument
Of their love that was a building
at the start…

Soon to fall, crashing hard like
Ocean waves when they came
Tumbling down…crashing along
the waste side…she was left in
her fortress heart still wearing
her crown…praying for better days…

Ironically this one out of all my works is not based on truths…I actually feel quite disconnected from this piece and wasn’t sure it was good…thanks!
